Steve Jobs biopic flops at US box office


Danny Boyle's new Steve Jobs biopic has failed to claim the top spot at the US box office, after taking in just $7.3m (£4.8m) in its first week of release.

The film, starring Michael Fassbender in the title role alongside Kate Winslett and Seth Rogen, went into the chart at No.7. The film cost $30m (£19.5m) to make and is the latest in a line of biopics and documentaries about the Apple guru.

Vin Diesel's latest blockbuster, The Last Witch Hunter also failed to meet expectations, earning $10.8m (£7m). while Bill Murray's new comedy, Rock The Kasbah, which features the actor as a rock promoter in Afghanistan, took in just $1.5m (£1m) after costing $15m (£10m) to make.

Family horror film Goosebumps, based on the popular children's book series and starring Jack Black, fell a place to number two on the chart, earning $15.5m (£10.1m).
