New Brangelina movie panned by critics
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt's new movie, By The Sea, has been universally panned by critics and labelled officially as a flop.
Jolie wrote, directed, produced and stars in the film opposite her husband Brad Pitt in a moody, ponderous study of a the breakdown in a couple's relationship as they holiday on the Mediterranean.
Influential US movie bible Variety called the film: "“An unabashed vanity project that struggles to turn its own beautiful virtue into a virtue.” The New York Post called it: “A pretentious vanity project for Brangelina,” The Guardian said: “A vanity project that’s difficult to love, but alluring to unpack.” The Roger Ebert film site said Jolie ‘had produced a film that is such a borderline unendurable exercise in vapid self-indulgence that it almost feels like an exceptionally straight-faced parody of empty-headed star vehicles’.
According to insiders, Angelina Jolie feels this is her most personal film to date.
In its opening weekend in the US in November the film took a meagure $95,000 at the box office. To date it has taken £300,000 at the US box office and has now been dropped by US cinemas.
By The Sea is released in the Uk on 11th December.
